📢 Student Research Opportunity: ML for Disease Prediction from EHRs

Are you passionate about machine learning and healthcare innovation? Join our research team to work on cutting-edge predictive modeling using electronic health records (EHRs) to identify disease patterns and outcomes.

💼 Position Details:

  • Role: Undergraduate/Graduate Research Assistant
  • Pay: $12.50/hour (flexible on this price)
  • Time Commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week
  • Location: Remote or on-campus (Gainesville, FL)

🧠 Project Overview: You’ll contribute to a project focused on applying machine learning techniques to structured and unstructured EHR data to predict disease onset and recurrence. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in real-world health data science.

🔧 Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and libraries such as pandasscikit-learnnumpy
  • Experience with machine learning models (classification, regression, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing and feature engineering
  • Basic understanding of healthcare data or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and communicate findings clearly

 Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with deep learning (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow)
  • Knowledge of NLP for clinical notes
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy principles
