Volunteer Project Opportunity: Feed Florida App Development

Feed Florida (FeedFL) is a non-profit effort to tie together people who are hungry with providers of food (Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Schools, and Businesses). Specifically, the prototype application will be built to serve those in Palm Beach County, FL. The project would be to create an app that would:

  • Allow someone who is hungry to categorize themselves into causes of hunger
    • Show the hungry person the closest source of food providers that meets their particular need
    • Show the route from the hungry person's location to the provider
  • Allow food providers to make it known:
    • Their address
    • Days and hours of operation
    • Types of hunger met
    • Capacity of their ability to serve hungry people
    • Their contact information of the person in charge
  • Allow people, businesses, and organizations who want to contribute to the food providers:
    • The contact information for each food providers organization
    • The types of food donation accepted

The data to support this project's initial development has been collected for Palm Beach County in a previous project.

This is a volunteer position.
