Dear doctoral students and campus colleagues,

The UF Graduate School has opened registration for this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. Developed by the University of Queensland in Australia, 3MT is a research communication competition that celebrates the exciting research conducted by doctoral students while also cultivating their academic, presentation and research communication skills. 3MT supports students’ capacities to effectively explain their research by restricting each participant to a single, static slide and no more than three minutes of presentation time using language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Note  — only UF doctoral students are eligible for the competition, and they may come from any UF department.

This year’s competition will hold its preliminary round on Thursday, October 22 and its final round on Thursday, November 5, both in the Reitz Union Chamber Room. The deadline to register is Sunday, October 4, and the deadline to submit a slide is Friday, October 9.

Interested students can learn more about the competition by visiting the Graduate School’s 3MT page, linked here. This page contains the full list of important dates, slide submission instructions, the official competition rules and judgment criteria, as well as the slides from this year’s 3MT Info Session & Workshop.
