 Introduction to Intelligent Agents

Course number(s): CIS4930/6930

Meeting time: Tuesday, Periods 8–9 (3:00–4:55 PM) and Thursday, Period 9 (4:05–4:55 PM)

Location: MAEA 0303

Prerequisites: programming experience in Python

 

The course covers both the theory and the practice of intelligent agent systems. Students will learn how to design autonomous agents that perceive their environment, make decisions, and act to reach their goals. Topics include:

- Agent decision-making processes

- Agent communication protocols

- Single-agent and multi-agent system design

- Building agents that operate in dynamic environments

 

The course is hands-on. Students will build working agent prototypes for a range of applications, so they leave with practical skills in building AI systems. This is especially relevant now that AI agents are appearing across industry and research.

 

The course is a good fit for undergraduate and graduate students interested in AI, robotics, software engineering, or human-centered computing.
