Re: CTE Resources for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars

Happy Fall semester! My name is Kexuan Wu, and I serve as the Graduate Student Coordinator at the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE). We deeply appreciate your ongoing commitment to mentoring and supporting UF’s graduate students and postdoctoral communities.

As another academic year gets underway, I wanted to take a moment to share a few CTE resources and programs designed to support graduate students and postdocs in their teaching, learning, and professional growth.

UF graduate students, TAs, and postdocs are encouraged to earn CIRTL certificates from the CIRTL network, issued through CTE. Since UF joined the CIRTL, UF graduate students, TAs, and postdocs have free access to CIRTL programs, including workshops, courses, and events designed to prepare them for professional development. Subscribe to the CIRTL Newsletter to receive updates on upcoming events, workshops, courses, and teaching institutes, professional development opportunities, and academic job postings.

UF graduate students, TAs, and postdocs are invited to participate in CTE’s Passport to Great Teaching program, a professional development program that lets participants earn teaching certificates and can be added to a teaching portfolio, CV, or LinkedIn profile. In addition, CTE offers Events and Workshops in the Fall and Spring to keep graduate students, TAs, and postdocs connected and informed, while strengthening their teaching skills and maximizing learning outcomes. Subscribe to CTE's Newsletter to learn about events at CTE.

CTE also collaborates with the Graduate School on the Preparing Future Faculty program, which is designed for postdoc, doctoral, and terminal Master's students. This semester-long program provides insights into faculty roles, tenure and promotion, interviews and hiring, building positive mentoring relationships, and effective teaching and learning practices.

Additionally, each April, CTE hosts the Interface Teaching Conference, where UF graduate students, TAs, and postdocs have opportunities to submit a proposal and/or register for the conference. This conference offers participants the opportunity to explore innovative teaching and learning approaches in breakout sessions, lightning rounds, or poster sessions.

If you would like to know more about us and the resources we provide, please feel free to schedule a meeting with me. We are also happy to join your meetings or classes if you would like us to share more about the CTE with your students.
