UF BME Fan ML position

 Position Responsibilities:

Dr. Xiao Fan’s laboratory (https://xiaofan-lab.github.io/) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida has several research positions for master students. These positions are not funded, but students can take BME6905 for course credits. The projects revolve around understanding human DNA functionalities using machine learning methods. Research projects will involve study design, data acquisition, method development, data analysis, and software/database maintenance.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         A strong background in programming (e.g. python or R)

·         Demonstrated experience with machine learning modelling

·         Interest in learning biological/genetic concepts

·         Excellent communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with high performance computing

·         Experience with deep learning modelling

·         Experience with bioinformatics projects
