Internship Position: Underwater Localization and Navigation Intern

Company: Walt Disney Imagineering, R&D

Location: Glendale, California

Duration: 4 months

 

About Us:

The goal at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D is to explore new technologies to help inform future theme park implementations.

At Disney, you will work closely with our team of engineers and researchers to develop and implement techniques for underwater navigation and localization. 

You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies while contributing to exciting projects.

 

Responsibilities:

- Evaluate various underwater localization technologies.

- Design prototypes and implement sensors to evaluate their performance.

- Conduct fieldwork to collect data and test equipment.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation systems into underwater vehicles and platforms.

- Analyze and interpret data collected from underwater sensors and instruments.

- Support ongoing research projects aimed at advancing underwater exploration and technology.

 

Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field (Master's preferred).

- System integration skills (able to prototype and implement both hardware and software components)

- Strong background in signal processing, robotics, or autonomous systems.

- Experience with sensors, localization algorithms, or navigation systems is preferred.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

- Passion for innovation and exploration.
