STUDY ABROAD Opportunity : UF in Italy in the Automotive Industry
UF IN ITALY: FROM AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES TO URBAN PLANNING
This program will provide students with the opportunity to interact with Italian faculty and students and to learn about the automobile manufacturing and advanced vehicle technologies in Italy's Motor Valley. Student participants will learn about principles of traffic engineering, electronic systems and urban planning as they will be experiencing implementation of these principles in Italy, where pedestrians, bicycles, and various vehicles are well integrated into the urban environment. This will appeal to all degree levels of engineering students and will emphasize areas within civil, computer science, mechanical and electrical engineering.
What to expect:
- Four weeks of combined
coursework (6 credit hours) with lectures, industry-sponsored projects,
industry and cultural visits
- Students will prepare
individual and group presentations integrating lecture principles with
practical activities.
Excursions include visits to transit hubs, urban areas, transportation agencies, research facilities, automobile manufacturers and cultural activities.
We will explore Dallara (Indy car designers) and take a tour at Ferrari. We will visit Venice to understand their water transportation system and we will trek on one of the oldest roads in the world. And of course, we will experience the culture and cuisine for which Italy is best known!
For those who are interested, you may contact Dr. Elefteriadou (eleft@ce.ufl.edu) , Nancy McIlrath (nancy.mcilrath@essie.ufl.edu) or Pingchien Neo (pneo@eng.ufl.edu).
