On behalf of the Association for Women in Mathematics, we are excited to share three more opportunities coming up next week. I would appreciate it if you could share this with your students! Flyers for all three events are attached below.    On Tuesday, November 12th, Graduate Students Gillian Carr and Wanchen Zhao will each be giving a talk, starting at 4:00 P.M. in the Computer Science/Engineering Building, Room E222. Gillian will be presenting on "Image analysis and agent-based modeling of tumor-immune interactions in the glioblastoma microenvironment", and Wanchen's topic is "Persistent Homology, Measure Theory, and Vectorization". The abstracts for both talks are found below, along with a flyer! We hope to see you all there!    Additionally, we are having our "Mentor Men-tea" event on Wednesday, November 13 th  at 4:00 P.M. for all participants in our Mentorship Program! The LearnDialogue lab is looking for a temporary software developer who is available to start immediately to solve a specific bug within an existing system. Extensive knowledge of Express.js, React.js, and Node.js are required. The application is AMBY ( https://amby.campdialogs.org/ ), which is an interface built based on Google Dialogflow that allows users to create chatbots and input training phrases and responses for the chatbots. AMBY exchanges information with Dialogflow using the Google Dialogflow API. AMBY was built in 2022 and has enabled over 300 children to create chatbots and learn about AI and we are planning to deploy AMBY to several classrooms in mid November, 2024.The developer will be expected to conduct a thorough debugging on the existing codebase. The developer will work closely with the research team to ensure the system runs smoothly during the study and address any potential issues on a timely manner. The UF International Center would issue 2 types of invitation letters for our students and their family members; an invitation for a general visit and an invitation for graduation ceremony.   Receiving those letters may help their family member’s visa application, but those letters are not immigration requirement. They can apply for visas without invitation letters.   If a student cannot get the WOOT approval, they can go with a general invitation letter or without an invitation letter.   I would discuss with our International students compliance team adding an explanation on our website regarding receiving an invitation letter so that our students would understand this.
